It’s about a two-hour train ride from Lisbon. Trains depart from Santa Apolónia station in Lisbon and arrive at Tomar station. Not far from the train station is Igreja de São Francisco (Church of Saint Francis).

The main attraction is Castelo de Tomar (Tomar Castle) and Convento de Cristo (Convent of Christ), located on a hill next to each other.

Wandering around the old town which is centered around Praça da República (Republic Square) and Igreja de São João Baptista (Church of Saint John the Baptist). Rio Nabão (Nabão River) runs through the town with Parque do Mouchão (Mouchão Park) and Antiga Fundição Tomarense (Old Tomar Foundry) both located along the river. Then back to the train station for the return trip to Lisbon.
